Paul Gascoigne entered Italy’s version of ‘I’m a Celeb’ in incredible style

Paul Gascoigne kicked off his stay on the Italian version of ‘I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!’ last night – and didn’t disappoint with his entrance.

The 53-year-old donned a pair of pink shorts and an unbuttoned shirt as he danced along a pier, with some beach-themed music playing in the background.

In a separate scene, Gazza jumped from a helicopter into the sea, aptly soundtracked by AC/DC. He was then covered in gunge during another challenge alongside other competitors. And that’s just day one.

Sources stated that Gascoigne had been working on his Italian before the show, in order to be able to talk on a more extensive level with the other competitors.

He spent three years in the country whilst playing for Lazio between 1992 and 1995.

In his introductory video, he spoke about his love of fishing, and his desire to make others laugh in the camp. Let’s hope he can recall some of his hilarious footballing tales and pranks, which would surely go down as a major hit with his fellow competitors.

Unsurprisingly, Gascoigne is one of the favourites with the bookies to win the series.

If his opening scenes are anything to go by, we can’t wait to see what occurs throughout the rest of the series.

The winner earns €100,000 in prize money. If he wins, the former England midfielder plans to use the money to set up a charity in memory of his nephew Jay, who tragically died of an overdose aged 22.

The series is scheduled to run until May, with a total of 18 contestants taking part.

Go on Gazza.
