In this episode, the bushy-tailed protagonist headed to Nicholls’ yard in Somerset, to discover what it takes to reach the pinnacle of the sport, in the hope that it will improve his tipping expertise.
Horse racing enthusiasts were treated to a genuine insight into how Nicholls has become the success he is today. In a fascinating episode, the 61-year-old showed his protegee how he trains his horses at his multi-million-pound facility in Ditcheat. However, while he has the money to splash on any piece of equipment he uses, it’s a humble plastic barrel that’s become his prized possession. As it turns out, it’s integral for his 150-strong team of horses.

In an entertaining segment, Nicholls opened Carter’s eyes, tasking him with helping him race plan for a meeting at Exeter. And in a huge turn-up for the books, the Betfair icon rose to the challenge and left the trainer pleasantly surprised.
It’s fair to say Carter has proved his knowledge beyond doubt since joining the Betting Betfair Stable in July. Having accumulated a whopping 16 winners in October, featuring a 25/1 ante-post selection with The Shunter for the Cesarewitch at Newmarket, it’s evident that he knows what he’s talking about.
However, there’s always room for improvement, and his time with Nicholls will undoubtedly have helped him progress in his journey. In a testament to his humility, he candidly opened up on how the experience will impact his decision-making process in the future.
