Paul Pogba produces insane first touch in France training

Paul Pogba produced an outrageous piece of skill during France training yesterday.

Pogba and the rest of the France squad have been in preparation for their Euro 2020 last 16 tie against Switzerland, which kicks off later today.

The midfielder has been ever-present thus far in Didier Deschamps‘s side, starting all three group matches.

One of his main highlights of the tournament came against Portugal in the final group game, where he produced a superb assist for Karim Benzema‘s second goal.

He also completed three key passes and recorded 104 touches – both numbers higher than any other player in the match.

The Frenchman has seemingly carried that confidence into training – by pulling off an insane first touch.

Facing towards the goalkeeper and positioned just in front of the halfway line, Pogba gets into the perfect angle to receive the ball, before turning around at the last second.

From there, he somehow manages to trap it with the side of his foot and control it into his path in one swift moment, before striding forwards. It is an incredible piece of skill.

Pogba and Kante praised by Deschamps

Prior to tonight’s last 16 clash against Switzerland, France manager Deschamps had hailed the importance of both Pogba and N’Golo Kante in the midfield.

On Pogba, he explained: “Listen, Paul is a complete midfielder. He has so many qualities – he can pass vertically, diagonally, all of this is part of his game.

“Then, of course, we work on the positioning, but it’s not only about playing good passes, it’s also about the positioning before the pass.

“His role is quite liberal, he’s not limited in the offensive approach.

“If there’s a need, he can also go back to win the ball behind, but on the pitch sometimes he can play a little bit higher or lower.

“His position can also develop between the left and right side, it just depends on the positioning of the other players.”
