EXCLUSIVE: Paul Wight has two opponents he’d love to go to war with in AEW.
Having cemented his status as one of the greatest of all time, the powerhouse has battled it out with an array of legends. However, with his desire to compete still burning bright, the icon still wants to deliver spectacular matches for the fans.
Paul Wight wants to wrestle Darby Allin and Kenny Omega in AEW
Paul Wight has his sights set on turning two AEW dream matches into reality.
During an exclusive interview with Sporf, he revealed: “I have two people in AEW that I would love to work with or against. One is Kenny Omega… I would love to see something like that happen before I retire. I would also like to do the same with Darby Allin. I love Darby.

“I think Darby is – no pun intended – tougher than a coffin nail. He’s a tough kid, he’s a good kid, he works hard, his heart is in the right place. I think he’s a little bit fearless in some of the stuff that he does. I want to pull him aside and say, ‘Cut the brakes a little bit’. But he’s young, he’s going to go wide open, I respect Darby for that.
“I would love to be a bad guy and wrestle Darby. I think we could really get a lot of visceral emotion from the crowd, to see a big giant sling Darby’s guts all over the place, and then of course we’d have Darby hit me with a couple of Coffin Drops, roll me in a casket, and that’s the end of it. That would be fun.”
Paul Wight promises big nights for UK AEW fans
With AEW All In set to hit Wembley Stadium on August 30, and PPVs being available to purchase on DAZN, it’s an exciting time for UK fans. And to make things even better, Wight is pushing for more shows on our shores.
He explained: “London has become our global destination. We’ve had great success over here. We love coming over here. I’m personally pushing to do more television over here. I know we’ve done a small one in Scotland. I want us to do more work over here. It’s just a great environment to come over here. I would love to do a couple of weeks’ tour over here. I know the logistics are hard on that, but hit Birmingham, Sheffield, all the places that I’ve hit over the years with those great arenas, that great environment. You guys are rabid over here as far as fans go. That’s a great opportunity for AEW going forward in the future. I’m sure we’re gonna explore this market much more with live events and televised events.”
