In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Bony reminisced: “That was a long time ago. I think Arsenal were going to play against Swansea, in Swansea. Then, I was in the Marriott Hotel at the time, and he said, ‘We’re quite interested in you, you’re doing well, but I think your salary is going to be too high for us’. I started to laugh, and then we were both laughing.”

Having won the African Cup of Nations, there’s no doubting Bony’s status as a superstar of the game, which is why it made perfect sense for the powerhouse to represent the legends against the creators at the Baller League final.

Right before Prime FC and NDL FC graced the pitch at the O2 Arena in London, UK, Bony’s side secured an 11-8 victory, in a game in which he gave his all for the crowd.

Reflecting on the experience, Bony said: “It was nice to see many faces in a different game compared to what we’re used to. It was good to entertain people. I think the organisation is doing well, and what they’re doing is unbelievable. We’re just happy to be here, enjoy some time with the people, and make some new friends.”
