Pedri set for Barcelona contract extension until 2026

Barcelona youngster Pedri is set to extend his contract at the Nou Camp with the new deal keeping him at the club until 2026.

Over the course of the last twelve months, there have been few footballers across Europe as busy as Pedri. The 18-year-old sensation was at the heart of Barca’s midfield last season and has continued that role in the early stages of the current campaign, and during the summer, he was an ever-present member of the Spain squad at Euro 2020 and the Tokyo Olympics.

It’s been a sensational rise to prominence for the teenager and, scarily enough, it seems as if he’s only going from strength to strength.

Barcelona as a club have endured some tough time as of late and that much is obvious. Alas, there are certainly some diamonds in the rough for fans to get excited about and Pedri definitely falls into that category.

Statement = made

Now, there’s even more cause for celebration with Fabrizio Romano confirming the news that Pedri will be staying put for the foreseeable future.

“Barcelona have reached total agreement with Pedri to extend his contract until June 2026, here we go! New deal to be signed in the next hours/days. Final clauses agreed and fixed too. EXCL: new release clause for Pedri will be €1B (one billion).”

This is just the first chapter in what looks set to be an incredible career for Pedri and based on the aforementioned release clause, we don’t think many clubs are going to be making an approach in the years to come.
