Pep Guardiola loses his mind after James Milner escapes red card

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola went crazy on the touchline after James Milner escaped a second yellow card for Liverpool on Sunday.

In one of the most entertaining games of the season thus far, Liverpool and City battled it out like two heavyweight rivals desperate to land the final knockout shot. In the end both sides shared the points in a 2-2 thriller, but there was a whole lot more to the story than just the scoreline.

With the match poised at 1-1 at around the 70-minute mark, James Milner’s outstretched leg brought down Bernardo Silva and earned the champions a free-kick. However, with Milner already being on a yellow card, Pep Guardiola couldn’t quite believe that the officials hadn’t taken the opportunity to send the 35-year-old off.

Pep loses it

What followed was one of the most tremendous managerial meltdowns in Premier League history – and that’s saying something.

Just moments later, when Mohamed Salah put Liverpool 2-1 up with a fantastic solo goal, the Spaniard couldn’t help but laugh as he watched his side’s hopes of claiming all three points slip away.

The visitors proceeded to score a memorable equaliser, through Kevin de Bruyne, but in the days and weeks to come, we’re likely to hear a whole lot more about this incident from the City gaffer.

He’ll have a lot of time to dwell on it, too, as the international break kicks in for two weeks before Pep’s side host Burnley at the Etihad on October 16.
