The Premier League has announced the nominees for their various awards as we near the end of a fascinating 2022/23 season.
Fans are now able to vote on their picks for the Manager of the Season, the Player of the Season, and the Young Player of the Season. A general public ballot will form part of the selection process.
In addition, a panel of football experts will have their say. The two elements will be combined to determine the winner of each award.
According to the Premier League, the Player and Young Player of the Season awards will be announced on 27 May. The manager trophy, meanwhile, will be revealed three days later on 30 May.
Unsurprisingly, all three prizes are full of nominees from the top two sides this year.
Premier League Awards nominees: Manager of the Season
Starting with the coaches, and all three bosses of the clubs leading the Premier League are up for recognition. Mikel Arteta, who led Arsenal to the top of the table for so much of 2022/23, is a nominee.
Pep Guardiola joins him as the manager of a Man City squad chasing a treble. Elsewhere, Eddie Howe is on the shortlist after guiding Newcastle to a battle for the Champions League places.
Joining these three on the nominee list are Roberto De Zerbi, Unai Emery, and Marco Silva. All of these coaches have arguably outperformed the expectations of their team – like Howe with Newcastle.
Firstly, De Zerbi took over mid-season at Brighton to push them to the European places. Unai Emery, similarly, has overseen significant improvement at Villa Park. Meanwhile, Marco Silva’s Fulham side have pulled off some great results in their first season back in the topflight.

None of this would have been possible without the players, though. Some of these managers thus see a few of their stars nominated for the coveted Premier League Player of the Season gong.
Player of the Season nominees
In unsurprising news, Man City’s star duo of Erling Haaland and Kevin de Bruyne have made the shortlist. Haaland has broken the single-season goal record for a Premier League campaign, whilst De Bruyne has been his usual world-class self.
Joining them are Arsenal pair Martin Odegaard and Bukayo Saka. These two have been vital in the Gunners’ title challenge, despite it likely coming up short.
The last nominees are then from three different clubs. Kieran Trippier has been part of a Newcastle defence with the least goals conceded in the division. Contrastingly, Tottenham’s Harry Kane has been the only star capable of even nearing Erling Haaland’s goal tally.
Marcus Rashford, with 16 goals and five assists for Man United, sees out the list.
Young Player of the Season
The PL Young Player of the Season can go to any star who was 23 or under at the start of the 2022/23 campaign. As a result, three stars from the previous Player of the Season list are in the nominations here, too.
They are Erling Haaland, his compatriot Martin Odegaard, and Bukayo Saka. A third Gunner makes the nominees for this specific award, though – Gabriel Martinelli.
Brighton and Newcastle have two players apiece to fill out the young player shortlist. Alexander Isak and Sven Botman represent the Magpies after both having stellar first campaigns in England.
Alongside them, Brighton midfielders Moises Caicedo and Alexis Mac Allister make the cut. These two have been so impressive this season that their manager expects them to leave on big-money transfers this summer.
Some tough choices and fierce debates will surely rage as fans decide who will win these 2022/23 Premier League awards.
