PSG president says club have followed financial fair play regulations “since day one”

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi believes the club have followed all the necessary financial fair play regulations since they were first introduced.

The landscape of European football has well and truly been turned upside down over the course of the last few months with the French giants making a titanic splash in the summer transfer window. They’ve got from losing their Ligue 1 crown to perhaps having the most well-rounded squad in the world, and all it’s taken is a few monumental signings to do it.

Are PSG legit?

One of the many questions raised by critics has been centred around how they’ve managed to get this done amidst the FFP rules. After all, Barcelona wasn’t able to sign Lionel Messi to a new contract due to restrictions put in place by La Liga.

Al-Khelaifi, though, believes that PSG hasn’t done anything wrong and have continually stuck to the rules.

“We follow the financial fair play regulations since day one. Before we do anything, our financial team checks everything. We had the capacity to sign Messi for FFP and we will always follow the rules.”

Some may take the president at face value here whereas others will continue to call for further investigations into the dealings of the club. Nobody can know, right now, what the right answer may or may not be, but PSG are coming to be in the mix both domestically and in the Champions League this season and that’s largely due to what they’ve accomplished in the transfer market.

They’ve been wanting to cause change for many years, and it appears as if the time has come.
