Sergio Aguero gives out his 2022/23 Premier League Awards

That special time of year has rolled around again. No, not summer! It’s time for Sergio Aguero to hand out some very special accolades.

With a whopping 260 Premier League goals to his name and a moment that will live long in the heart of Manchester City fans, perfectly captured by an enthralled Martin Tyler, shrieking “Aguero,” the Argentinian is undeniably worthy of dishing out his awards, however, he sees fit.

Speaking exclusively to Stake, he revealed his Player of the Season. And there was really only ever one man in the running.

He said: “Erling Haaland. I think Kevin De Bruyne also deserves to be in that place. But for being his first season in the Premier League and having managed to break the goal record, something very difficult to achieve, I think Erling deserves that recognition.”

Impressively, the Norwegian also won Signing of the Season.

Aguero added: “Haaland again, for what I commented before. He made a big difference in relation to other signings.”

Unsurprisingly, with the potential of guiding his old side to a famous treble, the former forward opted for a Spanish footballing genius for Manager of the Year.

The 34-year-old said: “Pep Guardiola. For obvious reasons. He proved once again to be the best.”

Having made a huge boom in the Premier League this year, Aguero opted for his countryman for Young Player of the Season.

The ex-striker beamed: “Julian Alvarez. There are several that could also be – I really liked Saka’s season, but I chose Julián. It is not easy to reach the Premier League directly from South America, with no experience in Europe, join the team and be decisive every time he has to play.”

Despite no longer playing the game, Aguero still loves to watch, and one match got his adrenaline pumping more than all the rest.

He admitted: “There were several. But I prefer City’s 4-1 win against Arsenal at the Etihad. City played a great game and won a duel that was decisive in finally winning the title.”

To conclude, Aguero revealed the starting XI for his prestigious Team of the Season.

The South American legend selected, Ederson, Robertson, Stones, Lisandro Martínez, Zinchenko; Rodri, Gundogan, De Bruyne, Odegaard, Bernardo, Haaland
