Simeon Powell on his famous after parties and flipping the switch ahead of PFL Paris

While Simeon Powell exudes class and charisma, when it’s time to release the animal in the PFL SmartCage, he’s more than up to the challenge.

Born in Harrow in North London, the natural-born fighter enjoyed his younger years, with fond memories of spending time with his family and eating pigs in blankets for Christmas Dinner. But despite his kind nature, when he first walked into the gym as a teenager, he unlocked an aspect of his personality that would ultimately take him on a journey to becoming one of the best fighters in the world.

Speaking exclusively to Sporf, he reminisced: “At 16, I stopped playing football. Some of my friends were going to the left; others were going to the right. Everyone was doing different things. And I just needed to find my place in the world. Combat sports have always appealed to me. So, I had just joined the gym, and the rest is history. I got good quickly and fell in love with it.”

Those who don’t know about Powell’s fighting prowess could be forgiven for underestimating him. But make no mistake, when it’s time to unleash the lion, he does so in abundance, as he put on full display in his devastating performance against Clinton Williams.

The 24-year-old explained: “I’m just a calm, happy guy that’s nice to be around. But when I’m in the cage, I know what time it is. That man’s literally trying to take food off my plate. I won’t pay the bills as well if I lose to this man. So I’m going to beat his a**. So my mentality changes.”

Simeon Powell is preparing for a massive after-party after he bags the win at PFL Paris

In a moment many fighters dream of, on Saturday evening, live on DAZN, ‘Smooth’ will fly to the French capital of Paris to compete in the biggest contest of his life.

In the opposite corner stands a tough Abdellah Er-Ramy, but Powell is convinced he’ll do a number on his rival before hitting the town in what he expects to be an epic after-party.

He laughed: “I’m not gonna lie, after the fight, I do have a bit of fun. If you’ve been there, you know what a Simeon Powell after-party is like. We’ve got something in the works; we’ll see what we can do.”

In his career to date, the 24-year-old has achieved amazing things, and he owes a great deal of his success to training at Great Britain Top Team.

He asserted: “It’s a great environment to be in because you’ve got loads of guys from different areas of the game. You’ve even got Ash Grimshaw, who’s been fighting since 2003. That’s as early as it gets for UK MMA, so it’s just amazing to have all these types of people around me.”
