In a truly sensational career, the Scotsman guided Manchester United to 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies and five FA Cups.
Blessed with incredible tactical awareness and an unrivalled will to win, the legend helped an array of gifted athletes achieve their dreams. And that’s because he knew exactly what he needed to do to get the best out of them.
Giuseppe Rossi will never forget what Sir Alex Ferguson said to him
Throughout his time in football, Sir Alex Ferguson made a reputation for finding the most talented prospects on the planet and turning them into superstars.
When he was just 17, Giuseppe Rossi, who was playing for Parma at the time, caught the attention of the football genius, who swiftly brought him to Old Trafford, where he’d spend the next three seasons.
During this period, the Italian developed a strong bond with the gaffer, who once shared his managerial philosophy with the forward.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf via talkSPORT Bet Online Slots, Rossi reminisced: “One time, we were on the bus, and we were coming back from a game, and he says, ‘Giuseppe, what’s the most important thing for a coach’? I’m like, ‘Boss, I’m going to say, the respect of the players’. He goes, ‘Yes, that, but the most important thing is making sure the coach knows what each player wants’. I’m like ‘That’s interesting’.
“If you’re able to know what each player wants, then you’re able to connect better with them, and therefore, even the ones that don’t play are not going to bring levels down, or hold a grudge; they’re going to fight for that common goal, which is winning games and titles. So, that was a great piece of advice he gave me when I was very young, and I still remember it today.”
Giuseppe Rossi opens up about his confrontation with Roy Keane
Ferguson isn’t the only icon Rossi had the opportunity to spend time with during his spell in England.
The natural-born goal scorer trained alongside the great Roy Keane.
However, he didn’t always see eye-to-eye with the Irishman.
On one occasion, Rossi claims Keane wanted to punch him in the face.
