Jack Maguire scores best comeback of the year at Oktagon 63
When Jack Maguire made the walk to the cage at Oktagon 63 to compete in the biggest fight of his life, the crowd reacted despondently, hoping he’d succumb to the supreme striking of their hero, Radek Rousal. And for a large portion of the fight, it looked like that was almost certainly going to be the case.
After a close first round, the Czech brawler upped the pace, looking for the punch that would end the show.
After a period of lining up the perfect shot, Rousal detonated his bomb, in the form of a left hook that sent the Irish warrior crashing toward the canvas.
Maguire looked down and out as he desperately battled to survive, throwing his legs wildly to try and keep his adversary at bay. And in a testament to his fighting heart, the Cork MMA representative made it through the storm, rising to his feet, where he continued exchanging with the relentless Czech.
Alas, he was quickly caught again, spiralling to the ground once more. Believing the end was nigh, Rousal jumped in for the kill, looking to land the final blow of the night. But Maguire wasn’t done. Spotting an opening, with blood pouring from his face, he locked in a triangle, forcing Rousal to tap, and securing a victory that looked almost impossible just seconds before.

The remarkable nature of the finish prompted a massive response online, with one fan commenting on how close Rousal was to getting the win.
He said: “Biggest fumble… piecing up on the feet then dives into guard and leaves his arm.”
However, others were more focused on the fantastic bravery Maguire displayed.
One posted: What a comeback and win by Jack Maguire. He was almost finished and caught Radek Rousal in a triangle choke!” While another added: “Jack Maguire gets dropped HARD in the second by a Radek Roušal left hand. He was put to the mat again with another shot, but the Corkonian managed to lock up a triangle off his back. Incredible finish when it looked like he was about to be put away!”
