A total of 10 children who won a special competition organised by The Hundred have had their dream cricket stadium brought to life on Minecraft.
The England and Wales Cricket Board, the national governing body which organises The Hundred, set up a competition tasking young entrants with creating the most imaginative stadium possible.
The competition was titled ‘Every Block Counts’. Entrants were asked to draw, paint, sketch or build their dream stadium.
The youngest winning entrant was aged seven, with the oldest aged 16. Some of the features included in the winning designs included a spaceship stadium complete with fireworks, a rooftop nature garden, and a rainbow-coloured seam arch over the top of one of the stadiums, intended to promote diversity in cricket.
What does the final stadium look like?
The Hundred then combined the 10 winning entries into one incredible stadium. Titled ‘The Space Bowl’, it incorporates some amazing features. Check out the finished product below:
Along with seeing their dreams become a reality, the 10 winners have received some fantastic prizes. Each winner receives tickets to a game of their choice, with their family. They also have the opportunity to meet and greet with players playing in this year’s competition.
In addition, each winner will get a personalised junior shirt for the team of their choice. Finally, they will receive a giant personalised Topps card and additional Topps card products.
On the judging panel was Birmingham Phoenix bowler Issy Wong. The 20-year-old made her Test debut for England last week against South Africa, taking three wickets in the match.
On the Hundred stadium, Wong said: “It’s been fantastic to see the levels of creativity from this competition. We’ve seen submissions beyond our wildest expectations. The final build truly is a blockbuster cricket stadium.
“It’s been incredible to be part of this initiative; another first for The Hundred as it continues to push the limits in sport and entertainment.”
