Logan Paul stunned the wrestling world with his incredible display against The Miz at SummerSlam – but it did take him a small amount of time to earn the respect of Triple H.
The social media sensation put on a wrestling clinic against The Miz, despite it being only his second competitive match. Paul performed an insane top-rope Frog Splash on to his opponent, who was positioned on the announce table.
The 27-year-old then hit Miz’s own finishing move, the Skull Crushing Finale, to win the match.
It wasn’t just Paul’s in-ring ability that impressed fans, but also his athleticism. In addition, it looked like he had been competing in the ring for far longer than he has.
The new head of WWE creative, Triple H, was one of the first to congratulate Paul on his performance. He wrote on Twitter: “No kidding at all! Just hard work and dedication! #RealDeal.”
Triple H was also present when Paul signed his contract with WWE in July. However, whilst he now clearly has significant respect for the social media star, he did have to educate himself on the 27-year-old before he stepped into the ring.
Triple H reveals what he said when he first heard about Logan Paul
Logan Paul managed to get ‘The Game’ to appear on his popular podcast, ‘Impaulsive‘, to talk all things WWE.
The conversation turned to Paul’s initial appearances in WWE, before WrestleMania 38. He would eventually participate in his first match at the event, teaming with The Miz to defeat Rey and Dominik Mysterio.
The YouTube sensation already showed plenty of talent, performing the ‘Three Amigos’ move on Rey, and a Frog Splash on Dominik.
On the podcast, Paul asked Triple H for his first reaction when he heard that WWE were interested in him. The response given is golden.
He said: “You want me to be completely honest? I said, ‘Who the f**k is that?’ No offence.
“I think it’s funny, because sometimes people talk about our business, they go like, ‘Well, I watched a little bit when I was a kid’. That means, [they] never watch, and they don’t want to offend me, or something like that. Like yeah, it’s not for everybody.
“When they first said [about signing Paul], Kristen Prouty walked in. Talked all about it, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know who that is’. I had no idea.
“And then I started looking at it, and I was like, ‘Holy s**t, these dudes are massive’.”
