Two former NXT stars expected to appear at latest SmackDown tapings

Two former NXT stars are expected to appear at the SmackDown tapings this evening, according to reports.

In his brief spell as head of WWE creative so far, Triple H has been ‘aggressive’ in bringing back former stars to the company.

Each of the stars he has brought back – Dakota Kai, Dexter Lumis, Karrion Kross and Scarlett – were all released from the company within the past 12 months. All four were stars of Triple H’s ‘black and gold’ NXT brand. They had characters and in-ring ability that many fans believed could easily translate to the main roster.

However, none of the four names got a genuine chance on the main roster. Only Kross was actually called up to Raw or SmackDown. But red flags immediately showed up for fans when he was defeated in his first main roster match inside two minutes by Jeff Hardy.

He then began wearing a helmet during his in-ring entrance, which wasn’t popular with the wrestler himself or fans.

With an enhanced presentation, Kross has returned to WWE alongside Scarlett. It is very similar to how both were portrayed in NXT. Signs are also promising for Lumis, whilst Kai was placed in a stable alongside Bayley and Iyo Sky – two of the top female stars in the company.

WWE could be adding two new Superstars to SmackDown

According to PWInsider, two more of Triple H’s former ‘black and gold’ stars are scheduled to be at SmackDown this Friday.

The same source claims that the two stars in question are former members of the ‘Hit Row’ stable, Top Dolla and Ashante Thee Adonis.

They were part of a group that also contained Isaiah ‘Swerve’ Scott, but he is now with AEW. It contained B-Fab as well. However, her name has not been reported as a returnee.

The stable were called up to SmackDown as part of last year’s WWE Draft in early October. However, B-Fab was released on November 4. The rest of the group followed her 15 days later. As with the other releases at the time, budget cuts was given as the reason.

A popular group on NXT, WWE fans will surely be looking forward to seeing at least two members of Hit Row if they do re-debut on the main roster.
