Two of Lionel Messi’s children sign for elite club

Two of Lionel Messi’s children have joined their father in signing for French giants Paris Saint-Germain.

Football fans have had a few weeks to digest the news that Lionel Messi, one of the greatest players of all time, has made the official transition from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain. It served as one of the biggest moves in what can only be described as the craziest transfer window in recent memory, completely changing the face of Ligue 1 and the European game as we know it.

It runs in the family

Messi, obviously, moved over to the French capital alongside his family, who are passionate followers of the sport and of Leo’s sensational career.

As it turns out, per L’Equipe, two of his children are actually opting to follow in his footsteps by signing for PSG too.

“Stade Georges-Lefèvre experienced a moment of boiling on Monday afternoon. Lionel Messi, the Argentine star, has landed in the non-professional part of the Camp des Loges to register his two older children, Thiago and Mateo, with the youth teams of his new club. In all simplicity, the six-fold Ballon d’Or France Football came in person. Mateo, born in 2015, will evolve with the U7 of the PSG association. As for the eldest, born three years earlier, he should play in U10 or U9.”

Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva, both of whom also played for PSG, also enrolled their children in the club’s youth setup.
