Tyson Fury details heated phone call with Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury has revealed details of a previous phone call he had with heavyweight rival Anthony Joshua.

As fans we’ve all been waiting years to see Fury and Joshua square off in what would easily be one of the biggest fights in British boxing history. Alas, despite being closer than ever earlier this year, we’re now back to square one with both men needing to get past tough obstacles in the next few weeks before we can even think about it happening.

The delay does increase the likelihood of it taking place in a packed Wembley Stadium as COVID-19 restrictions continue to ease, but we’re pretty sure Oleksandr Usyk and Deontay Wilder will have something to say about that.

Fury vs Joshua – will it ever happen?

It’s no secret that Fury and Joshua aren’t big fans of one another and as per “The Gypsy King”, they’ve even made their frustrations known over the phone.

“I have definitely encountered the true Anthony Joshua. Not a nice person, sort of a bully. Someone who thought he was gonna put the bluff on me. That’s what type of person he is.

“I once had the opportunity to see the real ‘Femi’. He phoned me up one day in a mood to say he was gonna do this to me and do that to me.

“It didn’t fare too well for him, let’s just say that. Just out of the blue. He decided to give me a call, a telling off call. I don’t think he liked what he heard on the end of it.

“There’s be no telling me off anyway. I just told him the truth and the truth always hurts.”

Joshua vs Usyk goes down on September 25 whereas Fury vs Wilder 3 will take place in Las Vegas on October 9.
