Tyson Fury makes huge dig at Anthony Joshua’s career

Tyson Fury has taken another shot at Anthony Joshua – this time regarding the overall strength of his pro boxing record.

These two men have been dancing around one another for so long now that it feels as if we’re on the verge of it turning into another Mayweather vs Pacquiao situation. Nonetheless, both individuals are still in their prime as of this writing and there’s still a heavy amount of interest in seeing them meet inside the squared circle.

They’ve both got to first overcome the challenges they have in front of them in the next few weeks but if they can do that, the path will surely have been cleared for them to collide next year – potentially even at Wembley if we’re lucky.

Fury goes after Joshua (again)

During a recent interview with Gary Neville, though, Fury didn’t want fans to think Joshua has been fighting the elite of the elite over the last few years.

“I do think that the best boxers do fight each other eventually, but it’s not gonna happen when everyone calls for it.

“It only happens when say one boxer’s on the slide and one’s in his prime. Then you get them wanting to fight each other. But you very rarely get two prime fighters fight each other. Because one of them is always a bit wary that they’re gonna lose. Anthony Joshua’s fought not one heavyweight in his prime.

“He fought Wladimir Klitschko at 42 years old, Kubrat Pulev 40-odd, Alexander Povetkin 40-odd.

“They’re all former good men, back in the early 2000s, late 2000s, but not in 2020-odd. They were good men 10 years ago.”

Joshua is set to meet Oleksandr Usyk next weekend whereas Fury has to battle Deontay Wilder for a third time on October 9 in Las Vegas.
