Usyk shows off body transformation ahead of Joshua fight

Oleksandr Usyk appears to be taking his commitment to be a heavyweight seriously heading into his fight against Anthony Joshua.

This Saturday night, the undefeated Usyk is hoping to upset the established order when he takes on Joshua in a huge heavyweight boxing showdown in the capital. The pair will meet at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what’s quickly becoming something of an “unofficial” semi-final.

The winner of this bout is expected to take on the victor of the October 9 clash between Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder, but for Usyk, the only man in the world that matters to him is Anthony Joshua.

The Ukrainian star spent the majority of his pro career as a cruiserweight before making the transition up in weight in an attempt to become the “baddest man on the planet”.

Can Usyk get the job done?

When he went up against Chazz Witherspoon he came in at 215lbs with that rising to 217lbs upon meeting Derek Chisora.

This time around, reports are suggesting that he’s gone all the way up to 230lbs with his hope seemingly being to match Joshua’s power and size.

Anthony Joshua isn’t likely to be phased by the weight of Usyk either way, but it’s obvious to see Oleksandr is hoping to capitalise on any potential “complacency” that could be in the air for AJ. After all, if he wins this fight, he’ll set up the biggest payday of his life – but all of that disappears if he can’t get the job done.

Buckle up, folks, because fight week is finally upon us.
