Who is Karim Adeyemi? The star prospect linked with Liverpool, Barcelona and Real Madrid

RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi is the subject of excited talk around Europe.

The youngster has crept up on football fans as one to watch in recent months. As per Mundo Deportivo reports, the likes of Barcelona and Liverpool are attempting to sign him.

As we all know, the premise behind the “shiny new toy” going for big money isn’t uncommon. Still, with so much time left for Adeyemi to develop, a big move doesn’t need to be rushed.

As we wait for further rumours to hit the Twittersphere, it’s time to take a look at everything we know about Karim Adeyemi.

Who is Karim Adeyemi?

At the age of 19, Karim Adeyemi is starting to find his rhythm at RB Salzburg. After spending a few years in the youth system at SpVgg Unterhaching and Bayern Munich, he made the jump over to Salzburg back in 2018.

In that time, he’s scored 24 goals across 67 appearances. Fourteen of those goals have come in the Austrian Bundesliga and the Champions League this season.

In September 2021, he scored on his debut for the German national team.

What is Karim Adeyemi’s current contract situation?

Back at the start of the 2018/19 campaign, Karim Adeyemi signed a three-year contract with RB Salzburg. However, a contract extension signed in January 2020 means that he’s tied down until June 2024.

Salzburg recognised his growing confidence, quality and value, meaning it’s likely they’ll benefit from a handsome sum whenever they decide to sell.

Who else is linked with Karim Adeyemi?

The following clubs are reportedly in the mix for Adeyemi’s signature: Barcelona, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid.

Other clubs are monitoring his progress from further back. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are at the forefront of that crowd.

One thing that comes across about Karim Adeyemi is his ice-cool temperament. That might be due to his youth, but watching him play with such a carefree style is incredibly refreshing. He can play on both wings and up top as a solo forward, one of his key attributes with a burst of pace. Once the motors are running, it’s hard to catch him, which links up well with his insane dribbling ability.

With Liverpool’s front three beginning to show signs of slowing down, Adeyemi could come in as a future successor to Mohamed Salah. He wouldn’t start every game, but he could run the show alongside Diogo Jota as an impact sub.

Barca, Dortmund and Madrid all have huge names that Adeyemi could learn from too. But it depends on when the deal goes through. Sergio Aguero could take Adeyemi under his wing in Catalonia. On the flip side, for Dortmund and Real, Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe are big factors to consider.

Haaland is linked with a move away, and Mbappe may end up at the Bernabeu next year. Depending on how that all goes down, Karim Adeyemi could be the wild card in the future direction of their respective clubs.
