WWE legend Jeff Hardy arrested on suspicion of DUI, other charges

WWE icon, Jeff Hardy, was arrested in Florida by police on suspicion of driving under the influence, according to reports.

The 44-year-old received charges of driving while license cancelled/suspended/revoked, a violation of restrictions placed on driver’s license, and driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is his third DUI arrest in 10 years.

The popular athlete was placed in custody at the S.James Foxman Justice Centre in Daytona Beach, Florida. His surety cash bond is listed at $3,500. That includes $500 for each license charge. The DUI charge is listed at $2,500.

Hardy was due to appear in front of a judge for a hearing on June 14 at 1:30pm. According to Wrestling Headlines, his DUI is deemed a third-degree felony, while the license charges are considered second-degree misdemeanours.

PWInsider reports that Hardy paid the $3,500, and was released from jail, with the court appearance now listed as ‘cancelled’.

A Florida Highway Patrol arrest report (as per ESPN’s Marc Raimondi) states that a white car was “swerving” and “running off” the roadway on Monday.

The report then states that Hardy could not complete any portion of sobriety exercises successfully “or without risk of falling”.

It also says that Hardy’s breath test sample read 0.294 of blood-alcohol content, and the second 0.291, with the legal limit to drive in Florida at .08.

The former WWE Champion has been arrested on multiple occasions during his career.

In March 2018, police arrested Jeff Hardy for driving while impaired in Concord, North Carolina. On July 19, of the following year, police arrested the high flyer in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for public intoxication.

Then, the following October, police arrested him in Moore County, North Carolina, for driving while impaired.

Jeff Hardy’s arrest comes as a shock to the wrestling community

Earlier this year, the supremely-gifted competitor shocked fans after walking out of a WWE match in the middle of a house show in Texas.

He abandoned his partner, Drew McIntyre, who had no other choice than to attempt to fend off Roman Reigns and The Usos on his own. Fightful reported that WWE asked Hardy to go into rehab, which he turned down.

The company released Hardy before getting back his test results. They came back clear. Despite offering to give the performer a place in the Hall of Fame, Hardy left anyway.

‘The Enigmatic Soul’ joined his brother Matt at AEW earlier this year. The company is currently advertising The Hardy Boyz vs The Young Bucks and World Tag Team Champions Jurassic Express on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite. But there is no guarantee this match will go ahead.
