Zidane offers blunt response to Klopp’s stadium complaints

Zinedine Zidane has responded to Jurgen Klopp’s comments regarding Real Madrid’s temporary stadium.

Real went toe to toe with Liverpool earlier this week in an enticing Champions League quarter-final first leg. The Spaniards came out on top as 3-1 winners, and they did so at the Alfredo Di Stefano Stadium.

The ground has a capacity of around 6,000 and is being used whilst the Santiago Bernabeu undergoes renovation work. However, the Liverpool boss decided to take a shot at the stadium after his side’s defeat.

“This here tonight was really strange because it was a difficult situation in the stadium, but Anfield is at least a proper stadium and that will be good for us.”

In a short and sweet response, Zidane had the following to say.

“I don’t have an opinion about what Jurgen says, we are proud to play in this stadium.”

Given Liverpool’s well-documented poor record at Anfield in recent months, it’s certainly a bold take from a manager who faces a massively uphill task of overturning an emphatic first-leg beating.

Madrid on the other hand have a huge few days ahead before that second matchup.

They meet Barcelona on Saturday in El Clasico, given how tight things are now at the top of LaLiga, it makes for one of the more fascinating duels between the two giants in recent years.

Atletico remain at the top of the table, though have faltered in recent weeks and now lead Barca by just one point, whereas Real sit just three points behind.

Things could get VERY tasty.
