With an impeccable fireworks display, a breathtaking halftime show, and a captivating main event between Karlos Vemola and Attila Vegh, Oktagon MMA 58 at Eden Stadium in Prague, Czech Republic, left fans with a memory that will last a lifetime.
The biggest show in the history of the promotion was so impressive that it’s left combat sports enthusiasts positively salivating at the prospect of the company doubling the attendance at the Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt, Germany, where 58,000 spectators will pack into the football stadium for a blockbuster clash between Christian Eckerlin and Christian Jungwirth.
The Oktagon MMA dream is only just getting started
In their illustrious careers, Vemola and Vegh developed enormous followings in their own nations, with the Czech cementing his place in the history books by becoming the first athlete from his country to appear in the UFC, while the Slovakian solidified his legacy by claiming the Bellator title.
However, while the Eden headliners were bonafide stars before their stints in Oktagon, the founders of Europe’s number one MMA organisation, Pavol Neruda and Ondřej Novotný, have showcased their remarkable promotional skills to build Eckerlin and Jungwrith from nothing to genuine heroes in their homeland, with the rivlas transcending combat sports, by not just capturing the attention of MMA fans, but the whole of Germany, with the entire country utterly enthralled by the epic collision on October 12.
And with ambition running through their veins, the pair of promoters are far from done, with the duo determined to push the boundaries even further.
At the Oktagon 58 post-fight press conference, Neruda explained: “The sky is the limit. I believe this applies to our imagination and dreams. It’s great; we’re really enjoying it, but we always want to take the next step and dream bigger. There could be a bigger stadium. Now, we are watched in Germany, UK, Czech Republic and Slovakia. We want the whole of Europe watching. We want to burn this passion in millions of hearts.”
Novotný added: “It’s not just dreams but goals. The goal is still the same. We have always said we want to be the European MMA Champions League.”
