Adebayo Akinfenwa confirms he’s held talks to join WWE

Wycombe Wanderers forward Adebayo Akinfenwa has confirmed he’s held early talks to join WWE.

Over the course of the last few years Akinfenwa has established himself as one of the most marketable footballers in all of English football. From his charisma to his insane strength, ‘The Beast’ always seemed destined to have a successful post-playing career regardless of what comes next.

Adebayo Akinfenwa = future WWE champion?

Now that he’s heading into the twilight of his time in the professional game, Akinfenwa is reflecting on what he’s accomplished and also what could be around the next corner.

During an appearance on the UMM YouTube channel with Callux, he went into more detail about his options.

“I don’t want to be a manager, I don’t want to be a coach. I’ve given two decades to football. I’m 39 next month. I’m at the transitional stage.” The forward explained.

“Exclusive out here, I think I’m going to play on one more year. Then look, you know what, it’s funny. We’re talking to a couple of producers in LA, there’s a couple of movie projects.”

Akinfenwa proved his value on Wednesday night by scoring the winning goal against Bristol City in injury time.

“Then also, there are also talks with WWE. I reckon I’d be a good wrestler. I’ve always been able to live my life where nobody has put me in a box, so that’s how it is, I’m excited for the future.”

While WWE was one of the many listed possibilities for the next phase of his life, it’s not the first time this has been brought up.

He’s got a huge audience, he’s got the look and he can clearly talk. With the right training, there’s no reason why he couldn’t succeed in that sphere.

We aren’t going to suggest he’ll definitely become a champion because this is a competitive business. Still, there’s a chance, and that’s pretty exciting for the master of Beast Mode.
