If you’re talking about football boot royalty, Adidas’ Predator Accelerator will make it into the top five of just about any list.
Of course there’s been a long line of sublime Predator silhouettes, 1998 was a particularly good year though, as it brought us this stunning combination of brute force and devilish good looks.
The likes of Zidane, Beckham, Gerrard all donned the Accelerator at some point in their illustrious careers, confirming its place in footballing folklore forever.
Fast forward to present day, and adidas have brought the boot back, this time wrapped in the recent Superlative collection colourway, bringing about its rather extra title of the ‘Accelerator Hyperlative.’
The limited edition boots are available to buy now on the Pro-Direct website, they’ll set you back a cool £300 mind you.
The description reads: “Hype up your old-school skills with adidas Predator Accelerator FG football boots in Team Royal Blue/White/Solar Yellow, a limited edition remake of the iconic 90s Pred.”
“Arriving in a vibrant blue and yellow colourway, this special edition of the Predator Accelerator sees the iconic upper of the ’98 original paired with the modern soleplate of the Freak+. The signature rubber elements the likes of Beckham and Zidane used to such devastating effect sit primed and ready on the forefoot, while the curved three-stripes and traditional foldover tongue completes the classic look.”
This isn’t the only rework of the Accelerator we’ve seen in recent months. The Eternal Class pack gave us a stunning blackout version of the boot, which is probably our favourite release in a LONG time.
