Andy Robertson doesn’t think Scotland will make the Round of 32

Scotland knew that a victory would guarantee them a place in the knockout stages, while a draw would probably have done the job. In reality, even a respectable loss likely would’ve seen them through. However, the nature of the defeat against Brazil has left their fate up in the air.

And while many would expect Andy Robertson to remain optimistic, the talented player thinks the dream is over.

During his post-match interview with BBC Sport, he said: “Time will tell. We need to take a day or two to see what has happened. As a collective, we didn’t want to put ourselves in a position to hope for favours. If you ask me now, I don’t think it is enough. The next couple of days will be horrible.

“In certain moments, we let ourselves down tonight. At times, we were comfortable on the ball and got ourselves into dangerous areas. But against these teams, we cannot afford to make the mistakes we were making.

“We were punished for pretty much every mistake. It’s not good enough when you get beaten 3-0. We only have ourselves to blame.”

What do Scotland need to qualify for Round of 32 at FIFA World Cup 2026

While Robertson isn’t exactly overly hopeful, Scotland could still make it.

However, they are relying on results going their way.

This is what Scotland need to qualify for the Round of 32.
