Andy Ruiz makes prediction for winner of AJ vs Fury

Andy Ruiz Jr. has cast his prediction on who will come out victorious should Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury meet.

An agreement is yet to be reached for Fury and Joshua to take part in the blockbuster bout, although according to Eddie Hearn, a deal is “close”.

Fury’s promoter Bob Arum, claims that a location for the fight has been agreed. At the time of writing, however, no official announcement has been made.

It would be Fury’s first fight since emerging victorious over Deontay Wilder in February of last year, whilst Joshua faced off against Kubrat Pulev in December.

Ruiz believes that if the eagerly-anticipated bout does take place, Fury would come out on top.

Speaking to Little Giant Boxing, he said: “I think that it’s gonna be an interesting fight. I fought Anthony Joshua, I haven’t fought Tyson Fury.

“Tyson Fury has a real style, he’s tall, he fights tall. I kinda see Tyson Fury winning that fight.

“I wasn’t too impressed with Anthony Joshua’s last performance [against Pulev] but he got the job done.

“I think maybe Tyson Fury might get him, depends how awkward he is. If he boxes – Anthony hasn’t fought anybody that boxes around and moves around, so we’ll see.”

Ruiz’s next steps following Joshua defeat

Ruiz handed Joshua his first professional loss when the two faced off at Madison Square Gardens in July 2019.

As a result of the defeat, the 32-year-old was forced to drop his unified heavyweight titles to the American.

Joshua was quick to get his revenge though, winning the rematch via unanimous decision in December in Saudi Arabia.

Ruiz is yet to return to the ring since that night, although he is reportedly in talks to fight Chris Arreola later this year.

Arreola’s last bout was in August 2019, when he defeated Polish fighter Adam Kownacki via unanimous decision. He took part in a heavyweight title bout against Wilder back in 2016, but lost in the eighth round after a corner stoppage.
