Barcelona have revealed their official home kit for the 2022/23 season – and there are gold elements which will surely appeal to fans.
Barcelona will embark on a new era next season. Music services giant Spotify are taking over as the primary shirt sponsor on all three Blaugrana kits.
The exact financial value of the sponsorship deal is unknown. However, various sources in Spain claim it is worth around €70 million per year, for four years.
Spotify replaces Rakuten, the Japanese company that had sponsored Barca since 2017. They will also appear on the shirts of the men’s and women’s teams. In addition, they will sponsor Camp Nou. Furthermore, it marks the first rename in the stadium’s history to incorporate a sponsor.
Speaking after a deal was struck, the Chief Freemium Business Officer of Spotify, Alex Norstrom, told the club’s official website: “From July, our collaboration will offer a global stage to Artists, Players and Fans at the newly-branded Spotify Camp Nou.”
And by the looks of the new Barcelona 2022/23 home kit design, Spotify have added their own specialised touch.
Barcelona 2022/23 home kit is now here
The Barcelona home kit has already been ‘leaked’ online. Renowned Spanish journalist Gerard Romero posting an image of the design being modelled.
Gerard Pique, Ansu Fati and even Barca legend Carles Puyol are wearing the kit. However, the women’s shirt appeared to carry a different sponsor, despite the original statement confirming the sponsorship saying that Spotify would appear on both.
Now, Barcelona have officially confirmed the home kit they will be wearing in the 2022/23 season.
The leaks look correct, with the club’s trademark red, white and blue pattern adorning the shirt. The Nike tick, meanwhile, is gold. So is the Spotify logo, which stands out on the shirt in a subtle yet classy way. Meanwhile, the club’s iconic stripes are redesigned towards a curved orientation.
Both the men’s and women’s teams will be wearing the Spotify shirt in the upcoming season. It is also already available to purchase via the club’s official website.
The kit marks the 30th anniversary of Barcelona’s 1992 quadruple. Under the management of Johan Cruyff, they won the European Cup, Joan Gamper Trophy and Supercopa de Espana. They also won La Liga. In addition, Barcelona hosted the Summer Olympics in 1992.
