In an exclusive interview with Sporf, Whittaker enthused: “I think he’s a great fighter. What he’s doing, not many people are doing it—he’s going through the weight divisions and in each division he goes in, he makes it his own. It’ll be a massive fight. There aren’t many fighters who could live with him, but I think I’ve got the right style. I can stand and fight if I need to; I can make you miss in the pocket. It would be a pleasure to share the ring with him.”

While there could be monstrous nights ahead for Whittaker, the gifted athlete is fully aware that he can’t afford to overlook the challenge ahead of him.

When asked whether Wallace is the best opponent he’s ever faced, the 29-year-old replied: “As a professional, on paper, yes. He’s ranked above me in the IBF, and he’s had more fights than me, so he’s definitely a step up, but I feel, in every department, I’m a better fighter than him, and it’s up to me to show that on the night.”
