Jai Opetaia and David Benavidez give massive update on potential fight in exciting news for fans

Jai Opetaia vs David Benavidez has just moved one step closer to coming to fruition.

After the Australian destroyed Noel Mikaelian, he was joined inside the ring by ‘The Mexican Monster’.

In a spiteful performance, Jai Opetaia dominated Mikaelian, completely out-boxing his opponent, en route to securing a brutal ninth-round finish after connecting with an array of thunderous shots.

However, within moments of securing the victory, attention shifted to his next fight, with David Benavidez setting foot inside the squared circle to try and get the bout over the line.

The unified cruiserweight world champion exclaimed: “Let’s do it right here, Cinco de Mayo next year.”

Opetaia responded, simply: “Done.”

Benavidez fired back: “This is a great fighter right here, but there can only be one monster in this weight division. I respect this man so much; he’s the boogeyman of the division, but I’m the man you call when you want to kill the boogeyman.”

The Aussie chuckled: “He’s said it now, he’s not taking it back, let’s go.”

When asked about what he expects from the contest, the American answered: “I like this man; he looks like he loves a war, and I’m the same way, so we’re going to give the fans a great fight.”

Bursting with enthusiasm, Opetaia beamed: “We live for these moments, let’s go.”
