Bruno Fernandes and Luka Modric traded verbals after Croatia goal

Portugal and Croatia have battled it out in a tightly contested game in which both teams showcased class in abundance. However, in the end, only one country could take the lead, and it was none other than the Balkan nation.

After winning a throw-in that they took very quickly, Croatia ambushed a distracted Portugal side. The ball found its way to Josip Stanišić on the right-hand side, who whipped it into Ivan Perišić, who hammered it into the back of the net.

WOW: Why Spain defeating Austria is terrible for Portugal and Cristiano Ronaldo

While the Croatian players celebrated, one Portugal star was left nothing short of furious, and it resulted in a confrontation with a member of the opposite team.

Following the goal, during the BBC Broadcast, Stephen Warnock explained: “Bruno Fernandes has not stopped moaning since this goal went in, he feels that the throw-in was taken from the wrong place from Croatia’s point of view. He and Luka Modric had a bit of a conversation off the ball about it. The goal stands.”

Luckily for Portugal, within minutes, Cristiano Ronaldo converted from the spot to put the teams back on level terms, before Gonçalo Ramos scored in the fourth minute of stoppage time to give his side the win. However, it wasn’t without drama as Croatia had a disallowed goal in the dying seconds of the game.
