Bryan Danielson appears to get his leg stuck between ring and ramp in freak accident

In a shocking end to his match at AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson appeared to sustain an injury after getting his leg stuck in between the ring and the ramp.

Since making the transition away from WWE, the charismatic star has continued to make waves in the wrestling world. The man formerly known as ‘Daniel Bryan’ won five world titles in Vince McMahon’s promotion and has started headlining events all over America with the company’s biggest rivals.

He’s received two five-star matches from journalist Dave Meltzer, defeated Dustin Rhodes, Eddie Kingston and Miro en route to winning a world title elimination tournament, and challenged Adam Page for the championship. But his most shocking moment occurred perhaps by accident during a Dynamite show on May 18.

Bizarre Bryan Danielson injury

After the wrestling icon had completed a tag team match alongside Jon Moxley against Matt Sydal and Dante Martin, disaster struck. The Jericho Appreciation Society provided the post-match angle, and somehow, Danielson suffered a strange accident.

Somehow, he got his leg caught between the ring and the rampway. He found himself stuck in this position for several minutes while the medical personnel and officials rushed out to begin a rescue attempt. They ultimately had to remove part of the ramp to free his leg.

This obscure turn of events has left fans puzzled. They’re not entirely sure whether the twist was part of the show or a genuine accident.

Was the Bryan Danielson injury a ‘work’?

AEW have not revealed whether this incident featured in the script or not. However, it did appear that the 40-year-old had genuinely hurt himself. His calf looked trapped, which in all likelihood would cause pain. Furthermore, faking the incident would make little sense. Danielson spent a prolonged period down, which, if scripted, provided little pay-off.

Some fans have noted that the sportsman remained in character as he limped to the locker room. But Danielson wouldn’t have reached the levels he had without being able to adapt to any situation. There’s every chance he was merely showcasing his high level of professionalism by acting as though it was all part of the show.
