Casemiro was rendered heartbroken as his first match at Inter Miami’s home ground went disastrously wrong.
While the Brazilian was hoping to make a good first impression for the fans in attendance at the Nu Stadium, the reality was anything but.
Casemiro made a mistake before scoring an own goal
After leaving Manchester United to sign for Inter Miami, Casemiro believed he had the minerals to take the MLS by storm. However, he now has a lot of making up to do to show he can make a difference for his new side.
33 minutes into the match against Columbus Crew, things took a turn for the worse for the Brazilian. After his team had gone 1-0 up, despite being under no pressure, Casemiro managed to give the ball away, allowing for an attack from the Ohio side.
The visitors delivered a cross into the box, which the 5x Champions League winner managed to get on the end of. However, rather than steering the ball away from goal, he managed to drill it into his own net.
Unsurprisingly, Casemiro looked absolutely gutted that he’d made two enormous errors in quick succession.
Of course, fans were quick to head to social media to voice their opinions on what had just transpired.
One posted: “How’s Casemiro getting on over in MLS? I hear you ask… Well, he gave the ball away under no pressure, inviting a counter-attack and then finished the counter-attack with an own goal. His face said it all.”
A second wrote: “Bro regretting his decision, realising he should have stayed at Man United.”
After eventually regaining the lead right before half-time, the evening ended in heartbreak for the home side. In the 84th minute, they conceded another equaliser and had to settle for a 2-2 draw.
