Conor Benn reportedly fails ANOTHER drug test

Conor Benn is under investigation after claims he failed another drug test in addition to the one which caused the cancellation of his bout with Chris Eubank Jr.

Last week, ‘The Destroyer’ looked set for a career-high payday. But now, fans are wondering whether he’ll ever enter a ring again. On October 5, The Daily Mail revealed that the 26-year-old had tested positive for Clomifene, which can enhance Testosterone and mask other performance-enhancing substances.

Everyone involved behind the scenes was made aware of the circumstances in Septmeber. However, they all intended to go ahead with the bout regardless. Ultimately, it took the story breaking in the media for the boxing world to react.

Eventually, after sustained efforts to keep the ship afloat, promoters Eddie Hearn and Kalle Sauerland pulled the plug. Therefore, with so much controversy, boxing enthusiasts are questioning the integrity of the sport more than ever before. Especially now that news of another failed test has emerged.

Conor Benn reportedly fails a second drug test

Allegedly, the boxer’s recent positive test isn’t the first time he’s been caught with an illegal substance in his system. According to The Daily Mail, Benn had already failed a test for the exact same drug, which caused his fight with Eubank Jr to fall through.

If proven true, this would leave the welterweight’s career in tatters. Not only would his reputation take a monumental hit, but he’d also likely face a ban which could keep him out of the squared circle for several years. In addition, fans are furious with Benn’s team, who allegedly knew of the situation.

Furthermore, purists are asking whether the British boxing authorities are capable of conducting effective drug-testing procedures.

An insider source confirmed the news to the Daily Mail, saying: “Yes. Earlier this year. Same stuff.”

The dates of Benn’s alleged first positive test have not been revealed. However, a month after brutally knocking out Chris Algieri, the WBC kicked the prospect out of their rankings for failing to sign up for their Clean Boxing Programme.
