EXCLUSIVE: Robert Griffith played alongside some genuine legends during his time at the Minnesota Vikings, but nobody amazed him quite like Randy Moss.
The wide receiver dazzled the safety to such an extent, that despite both their careers having been and gone, the 53-year-old still can’t believe what the icon was capable of.
Randy Moss is the best player Robert Griffith has ever seen
On November 24, Robert Griffith travelled to Birmingham, UK, to join his Vikings family from across the pond to watch his beloved team beat The Chicago Bears.
In between chanting ‘Skol’, the fan favourite was happy to reminisce over his memories of his time in Minnesota.
Comparing playing under Dennis Green to that of being shot out of a cannon, Griffith always gave his all on the field. And ultimately that’s what made him an All-Pro in 1998 and 1999, and ultimately earned him a spot in the Pro Bowl after a tremendous 2000 season.
The former San Diego Aztec college star, revelled in playing in a team with unrivalled chemistry, enjoying every second of his time with Randy Moss.
Griffith was around an array of gifted competitors during his time at the top-level, but none stood out from the pack quite like the wide receiver.
In an exclusive interview with Sporf, the football star explained: “I saw Cris Carter for a number of years before Randy Moss got there. But when Randy got there and I saw what he could do, I knew that we had a special guy who was unlike anybody I’d ever seen. When he was scoring in that year and when he was on the field, it felt like we had a secret weapon. For him to do what he did, 17 touchdowns in his rookie year, it shows what a Hall of Fame guy does right from the outset.”
