There were extremely confusing scenes in Tottenham’s Carabao Cup clash with Chelsea last night, as Dier left the pitch midway through the second half and headed down the tunnel.
In what looked like something out of a sketch show, Jose Mourinho sprinted down the touchline after him, causing rumours of a rift between the pair. However, it turned out Dier simply needed the toilet and couldn’t hold it in.
Dier and Jose were all smiles after the game, as their side beat Lampard’s men on penalties, making for a couple of the more ‘unique’ post-match interviews you’re likely to see.
“He wasn’t happy, but there was nothing I could do about it, really. Nature was calling,” Dier said.
“I heard there was a chance when I wasn’t on the pitch, but thankfully they didn’t score and we ended up with the win.”

Mourinho said he had followed Dier to put pressure on him to get back on the pitch as fast as possible, but did praise the defender after he put in a Man of the Match performance in his second game in just 48 hours.
?"He had to go, I knew that he had to go!" ?

Incredibly, Tottenham are back in action again tomorrow night in the Europa League, where they’ll take on Israeli side Maccabi Haifa, before meeting Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
