In what appears to be a tribute to the late great Eddie Guerrero, Dominik Mysterio produced an epic heel turn to leave his father sprawled out on the canvas at Clash at the Castle.
On September 3, Edge and Rey Mysterio joined forces for a massive collision against The Judgment Day. The trio have spent the last few months causing absolute havoc. So the pair of legends thought they’d teach them a lesson.
And while the main event between Roman Reigns and Drew McIntyre gained a lot of traction, many of the hardcore fans in attendance were also there to see two of the greatest Superstars of all time.
The 62,296 wrestling enthusiasts crammed into the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales, lost their marbles as ‘Metalingus’ blasted into the venue, and the two former champions walked to the ring. And despite a valiant effort from the heel stable, they couldn’t fend off the sheer experience and class of Mysterio and Edge.
A 619 from the Mexican and a Spear from the Canadian left Finn Balor in no fit state to continue. ‘The Rated R Superstar’ secured the pin, and all seemed right with the world, until Dominik did the unthinkable.
Dominik Mysterio heel turn reminiscent of Eddie Guerrero
The fans in attendance went from cheering to shrieking in disbelief as the 25-year-old delivered a low blow to the 11-time world champion. This prompted a strong reaction from his father, who begged him to calm down.
But rather than listen to Rey’s words of wisdom, the youngster nailed his old man with a devastating Clothesline.
The surprising turn of events referenced the iconic ‘Latino Heat’, as per WrestlingNews. Back in 2005, the high flyer claimed to be a then 7-year-old Dominik’s father. This resulted in a legendary storyline, culminating in a ladder match at SummerSlam for custody of the child. Rey won, but after all these years, WWE fans were given an epic reminder of the legend’s battles with Eddie.
