Dortmund director shuts down Raiola’s latest Haaland claims

Borussia Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc has expressed no concern over Mino Raiola’s latest comments on Erling Haaland.

While many loathe Raiola’s role as a ‘super-agent’, there’s no denying the rise he gets out of people. From fans to pundits to higher-ups in football, everyone has some kind view on his approach.

As per a BBC Sport interview, Raiola had the following to say when questioned over Haaland’s future.

The saga continues

“Only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy [Haaland] and give the platform you would like after you’ve been in Dortmund… and four of those clubs are in [England].

“I don’t think there’s a sports director or trainer in the world who would say ‘not interested’. It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?'”

Zorc has been quick to dismiss any concern surrounding the agent’s latest comments though, as reported by Sport.de.

“First of all, I have to say that it doesn’t bug me at all, and I don’t see that Raiola’s statements are that exciting,” Zorc said.

In the space of just a few years the Norwegian has become one of the most talked-about players in the game.

“It’s also clear that Erling Haaland can’t and won’t play for every club after his time with Borussia Dortmund. I can’t even think of ten clubs.

Will it ever end?

“That was a completely normal statement that he sometimes has to make.

“We are happy with Erling and have firm plans for him. And I think he also likes it here quite a lot.”

Between the Premier League and the rest of Europe, the interest in Haaland is clear.

Where he goes next is anyone’s guess, it’s safe to assume that he’ll have plenty of options though should he decide to leave Dortmund.
