Drew McIntyre shows off ‘battle scars’ after Roman Reigns, Usos attack

Drew McIntyre suffered brutal injuries on Friday Night SmackDown after Roman Reigns and The Usos assaulted him with steel chairs.

On September 3, the Scotsman will compete in one of the biggest match-ups in British wrestling history. However, the wear and tear he took during the latest Friday night show certainly took plenty out of him ahead of the showdown.

Prior to the beating, McIntyre collided with former Intercontinental Champion, Sami Zayn. And the 37-year-old looked in fine form. He began to beat his opponent down and looked close to closing the show. However, when The Usos sprinted to the ring, the British icon lost his concentration, allowing Zayn to land a Blue Thunder Bomb.

But in a testament to his powers of recovery, McIntyre rallied back, dropped the tag-team partners from the ring apron, and hit his adversary with an almighty Claymore Kick. Consequently, the crowd erupted in celebration, but the cheers didn’t last for long, because as soon as the match ended, ‘The Tribal Chief’ arrived.

Roman Reigns attacks Drew McIntyre

The Universal Champion ambushed his Clash at the Castle opponent from behind and instantly started to unload a series of heavy kicks. But yet again, McIntyre rallied back. He launched Reigns into the turnbuckle and out of the ring. However, he quickly found himself outnumbered when The Usos jumped into the ring.

And while the Scot just about mustered up the energy to fend them off, there was nothing he could do to stop his rival from landing a crunching Spear. With McIntyre down, the trio took the opportunity to beat their injured victim with steel chairs.

The reigning champ then grabbed hold of his unconscious adversary and delivered a brutal message.

He shouted: “The top of the mountain is mine, and you won’t ever have it until I’m done with it. Do you understand me?”

Then in the ultimate show of disrespect, Reigns placed a chair over McIntyre’s head and sat over him.

Afterwards, WWE posted two photos showing the visible damage that the attack caused to the Scotsman’s injured back. McIntyre has been through much worse, though, so don’t expect this to slow him down.
