Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn has responded to Tyson Fury’s most recent insult as fans continue to hope for a future Fury vs Joshua showdown.
It goes without saying that there’s been some tension between the Fury and Joshua camps for quite some time now as we all continue to count the days until they (hopefully) meet inside the squared circle. Right now both men are pre-occupied with Deontay Wilder and Oleksandr Usyk but if they can both get past those two tests, the path will have been cleared for one of the biggest fights in British boxing history to take place.
The promoting mastermind that is Eddie Hearn
Eddie Hearn, as manager of Anthony Joshua, obviously plays a pretty key role in this whole thing and will hopefully be integral to making it happen – should the boxing gods allow it, that is.
“The Gypsy King” Tyson Fury went viral once again earlier this week by insulting Eddie Hearn during an interview with Gary Neville and, unsurprisingly, Hearn has taken it upon himself to bite back.
“[Fury] says I’m not a champion, I’m just a businessman – well obviously.
“But he and I have one thing in common: we both have the same amount of world heavyweight title defences, which is zero.
“He should concentrate on his own career and try to build on the great work he’s done, and create a legacy with championship defences. And I hope he beats Deontay Wilder.”
Joshua vs Usyk goes down in London on September 25 whereas Fury vs Wilder 3 will take place on October 9 in Las Vegas.
