Barcelona thrashed Real Madrid 4-0 in El Clasico on Sunday evening – and one player could not resist a dig at one of his opponents.
The epic rivalry between Real and Barca is a tale as old as time. The two sides have had some incredible battles over the years in which some of the biggest football stars have featured.
While Barcelona have recorded some devastating wins over their rivals in previous years, it is Real Madrid who have the better record recently.
The Catalan side struggled to climb the table at the beginning of the season. Real, meanwhile, sat top of La Liga by nine points before Sunday’s fixture. Barcelona were in fourth. Real even came into the fixture with the confidence from knocking Paris Saint-Germain out of the Champions League. A home win looked like being a certainty.
However, with club legend Xavi at the helm, Blaugrana have looked like a different side entirely.
They took the game to the league leaders and thumped them 4-0. Goals came from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ferran Torres and Ronald Araujo.

During the game, Barcelona defender Eric Garcia took the chance to taunt his opposition. This time, it was Vinicius Junior on the end of it.
What did Eric Garcia say to Vinicius Junior during El Clasico?
Vinicius Junior, who was supposed to be Real Madrid’s biggest threat in the absence of Karim Benzema, had to endure the taunting of Eric Garcia whilst his side were humiliated in El Clasico.

Movistar cameras picked up the Catalan defender shouting at Vini. He said the following, as per Marca:
“You next year for the Ballon d’Or, yes, the Ballon d’Or, right?”
Vinicius looked frustrated the entire game, clashing with both Marc-Andre Ter Stegen and Gerard Pique early on. He even battled with Barça manager Xavi as the game went on.
The taunting came as Garcia looked to stir up Vinicius’ anger, which was present throughout the entire tie.
Garcia’s reference appears to be aimed towards comments the Brazilian forward made about winning one of football’s most significant individual awards.
Vinicius told El Larguero back in November that he dreamed of winning the Ballon d’Or.
As far as title ambitions go, Real still hold a commanding lead at the top of La Liga. However, Barcelona have shown that they still have work to do to secure the title.
