Rather than making positive comments about Barcelona after their 6-0 win over Inter Miami, most fans are making jibes at the American club’s head coach.
On July 20, Barcelona started their pre-season tour of the States with a bang. They arrived at Fort Lauderdale with a point to prove, and oh boy, did they make it. They outworked, outperformed and ultimately outclassed the American side en route to a result that left the home fans furious.
Raphinha made an instant impression on his Barcelona debut. The Brazilian winger bagged two assists and scored a goal in his own right. In addition, Memphis Depay showed that he has plenty left in the tank. With his back to the net, he turned past his man and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner.
As each goal went in, Miami manager Phil Neville began to look increasingly perplexed. And it’s resulted in football enthusiasts taking to social media to make the same joke.
Barcelona vs Inter Miami results in fans making fun of the Neville brothers
In 2015, Phil’s elder brother Gary took on the managerial reins at Valencia. But despite his playing ability and footballing IQ, he struggled to get to grips with the Spanish style of play. Less than four months after his initial appointment, standing just a point above the relegation zone, the La Liga side had no choice but to show him the door.
Before his sacking, the Man United legend went toe-to-toe with Barcelona, and similarly to his brother, his side took an absolute hiding. Valencia lost the game 7-0. That leaves the score at Barca, 13, Neville brothers, 0.
Consequently, fans have taken to Twitter to post trolling messages.
