With the 2020/21 campaign nearing its closing stages, FIFA 21‘s Team of the Season promo is set to begin.

Kicking off the promotion, as is tradition at this point, will be the Community Team of the Season, which is voted for by the the Ultimate Team community.

Gamers can choose from the best players to get one FUT special item or fewer this FUT cycle to be rewarded with heavily boosted Team of the Season special items.

The vote will be conducted on the EA website and runs from April 16 until April 21. Fans can cast their vote now.

What is ‘Team of the Season’?

‘Team of the Season’ is a promo where players are given heavily upgraded cards to reflect real-life performances throughout the season.

They are released in the form of league or region-specific squads. This normally happens every Friday, although in past years EA have released an additional league during each week.

It is one of the biggest promos of the year, and normally lasts for over a month.

Will ‘Team of the Season’ return this year?

Last year, we saw the release of ‘Team of the Season So Far‘ cards, with leagues being delayed or cancelled as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The cards reflected real-life performances between the beginning of the season and March.

With all major leagues on course to finish as normal this campaign, we should see the return of regular ‘Team of the Season’ cards.

Which leagues will receive ‘Team of the Season’ cards?

Traditionally the curtain-raiser of the promo, the ‘Most Consistent Team of the Season’ rewards those players who have performed consistently all season, but haven’t received an in-form card.

All five major leagues – Premier League, Serie A, Ligue 1, LaLiga and Bundesliga – are all given their own squads.

Beyond that, we normally see ‘Team of the Season’ players from the Eredivisie, Liga NOS, CSL, Saudi Pro League and MLS given their own teams.

There is a ‘LATAM’ squad then released which features the best players from Latin America, as well as a ‘Rest of the World’ squad.

There’s also a combined EFL squad, which covers the Championship, League One and League Two.

Which leagues are we likely to see first?

After the ‘Most Consistent’ squad – which is voted for by the community – the next league to be included in the game is usually the Premier League.

The next four major leagues are then released, alongside a squad that contains a combination of players from other leagues.

Finally, there is an ‘Ultimate Team of the Season’, comprising of the best TOTS cards released throughout the promo.
