Five of the best value players in Fantasy Premier League 2022/23

Struggling to decide which players to select for your 2022/23 Fantasy Premier League team? Look no further than this handy list of best-value players.

The 2022/23 FPL season is now live, with managers across the globe now able to build their squad for the upcoming Premier League season and battle it out with their friends and family for bragging rights.

Every year, participants watch Premier League fixtures whilst hoping that their chosen players score goals, get assists or keep clean sheets. How well a player does on the pitch – certainly as far as the key numbers are concerned – determines how well they do on fantasy football.

Stretching your £100 million starting budget is always a task. Which high-price players do you take?

Of course, the likes of Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane are at the top of most managers’ shopping lists, but the key is finding lower-priced assets with a great return.

Here are our top five best value players for the 2022/23 Fantasy Premier League season:

Kieran Trippier (£5 million)

Newcastle full-back Kieran Trippier represents excellent value for the upcoming season. Despite his injury in the back end of last season, the England international is a competent defender who can cross as well as anyone.

In addition, he is a deadly free-kick taker, and Eddie Howe’s new-look Magpies will be looking to kick on next term. At £5 million, Trippier is a snip.

James Justin (£4.5 million)

We could have gone for either Justin or his fellow Leicester City full-back Ricardo Pereira, as both are priced equally. However, we feel that Justin has the edge.

The England international can operate on either side of the defence and proved to be a great asset in the 2020/21 season, before his long-term knee injury. The full-back is fit again for the start of the new campaign, and is expected to feature heavily for the Foxes.

Gabriel Jesus (£8 million)

Gabriel Jesus has been priced at £8 million following his summer move from Manchester City to Arsenal. The Brazilian should get far more game time at the Gunners than he did at the Etihad.

There was always the feeling last year that Arsenal needed a number nine to convert the chances their attackers created. Jesus seems to fit that bill, and if he hits the ground running at the Emirates, £8 million could be a bargain.

Robert Sanchez (£4.5 million)

Brighton’s number one is one of the lowest-priced goalkeepers in FPL this season. The Seagulls kept 11 clean sheets in the Premier League last season, and Sanchez was a big part of that.

Whether it is as a first choice, or as a backup, it could be worth plumping for the Spaniard this season.

Ivan Perisic (£5.5 million)

The fact that new Spurs signing Ivan Perisic has been categorised as a defender this season makes him a must-buy. The Croatian is expected to play in the left-wing-back position for Antonio Conte, but his attacking exploits for Inter Milan and Croatia are well-known.

Under Conte, Spurs looked a lot more defensively stable last term, so the left-sided player will also benefit from clean sheet points. Perisic’s goalscoring and defensive potential make him arguably the best value of the lot.
