Five of the biggest transfers that could happen this summer

With the transfer windows now open across Europe, we are beginning to see a host of big transfers completed.

There has been plenty of speculation growing when it comes to transfers for the world’s biggest clubs over recent days.

With rumours beginning to hot up, let’s take a look at five of the biggest transfer moves that could happen this summer:

Erling Haaland (Borussia Dortmund)

A few months ago, the name of Erling Haaland was the most dominant when it came to rumours about transfers.

Would the Norwegian superstar move to England to join Manchester United, Manchester City or Chelsea, or could he move to France, Spain or Italy?

He has been most recently linked with Chelsea, who won the Champions League last month.

And according to The Transfer Window podcast, Haaland has gone as far as agreeing personal terms with the club. Haaland’s future destination – if he does leave Dortmund – will no doubt be a common talking point over the summer.

Bernardo Silva (Manchester City)

When The Athletic reported that Bernardo Silva could leave Manchester City this summer, there was an element of surprise.

Silva has been one of City’s most important players since signing from Monaco since 2017.

But the same report as above said that, according to sources, a move to Barcelona fell through for the Portuguese midfielder last summer.

With LaLiga champions Atletico Madrid said to be interested as well, Silva is clearly a man in demand. Will he move on from the Premier League champions this summer?

Jadon Sancho (Borussia Dortmund)

A common talking point over the last three transfer windows has been Manchester United’s long-term pursuit of Jadon Sancho.

Those who can remember that far back will recall Argentina international Nicolas Gaitan being linked with a transfer every summer for years – but that move never actually happened.

United fans will be hoping that the Sancho deal does get done this time around. The Red Devils reportedly saw an initial bid rejected by Dortmund for the winger, but it has been reported that the two sides are just £10 million apart in their valuation.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Juventus)

Cristiano Ronaldo has been linked with some of the world’s biggest clubs with speculation over his future at Juventus.

Italian outlet Gazzetta Dello Sport claimed earlier this week that Paris Saint-Germain is the 36-year-old’s favoured destination, but there has also been reported interest from Manchester United as well.

Ronaldo has Euro 2020 to focus on first, though, and told the media prior to Portugal’s first game of the tournament that he was not concentrating on his future.

Could Ronaldo make a fairytale return to the Premier League this summer?

Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint-Germain)

Kylian Mbappe‘s current contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires next summer, which has led to speculation over his future.

The 22-year-old has long been linked with Real Madrid, although it could potentially take an obscene amount of money to prize him away from the Parisians.

PSG president Nasser al-Khelaifi said that he would “never sell” the French forward.

Real could potentially wait until next summer to do a deal. Mbappe would be available on a free if he doesn’t agree on a new contract.

If a deal does get completed, it would surely be one of the biggest for many a year.
