We’re now just days away from the showcase of the immortals – WrestleMania.
The 37th edition of WWE’s showpiece event will be a bit different this year, as was the case in 2020, due to the pandemic. Still, that doesn’t mean they can’t create Mania moments to last a lifetime.
Over the years there have been many matches that have made time stand still with Hogan/Rock, Andre/Hogan and Rock/Cena all being great examples of that.
To help get you in the mood for the weekend, we’ve picked out some of the greatest performances from down the years.
Shawn Michaels vs. Kurt Angle – WrestleMania 21
Mr. WrestleMania vs the greatest natural wrestler in WWE history.
It’s a match that flies under the radar for some but trust us when we say it’s worth a watch. Michaels throws everything he has at a man who, by that point, was transitioning into his Wrestling Machine gimmick by churning out classics every other week.
Hardy Boyz vs. Dudley Boyz vs. Edge & Christian – WrestleMania 17
TLC 2 is absolutely mental and that’s why it belongs on this list.
All six of these men, as well as Rhyno and Lita, took years off of their careers on that night. From the intricate spots to Edge spearing Jeff Hardy from high up in the air, this was all about putting three teams out there who wanted to prove a point.
Ricky Steamboat vs. Randy Savage – WrestleMania 3
Remember when the Intercontinental Championship was super important?
Steamboat and Savage wanted to make a statement and boy oh boy did they. This was a technical masterclass from beginning to end with both attempting to outwit the other. They really did steal the show, and on a card that featured Andre the Giant vs Hulk Hogan, that’s quite the accolade.
Bret Hart vs. Stone Cold – WrestleMania 13
At WrestleMania 13, Stone Cold Steve Austin arrived.
His bitter feud with Bret Hart led us down the path of this submission match for the ages. We had wonderful wrestling, the visual of Austin bleeding but refusing to give up, and then a majestic double turn. What more could you ask for?
The Undertaker vs. Shawn Michaels – WrestleMania 25
It’s probably the greatest match in the history of professional wrestling.
The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels, in a tale of darkness vs light, were pretty much perfect at WrestleMania 25. This was two giants of the industry colliding at the show of shows and even though the sequel was emotional, their WM25 effort was quite literally jaw-dropping.
