Floyd Mayweather explains reasoning behind Logan Paul fight

Floyd Mayweather Jr. has claimed that there isn’t a boxer that is more famous than Logan Paul.

The pair are scheduled to face off later this year in an exhibition fight, although no date has yet been set.

Speaking in a YouTube interview with Rob Moore, he asked: “Name another boxer, besides myself, that’s more famous than Logan Paul?

“I want you to look up Tyson Fury, look up how many followers he’s got on social media, and look up how many followers Logan Paul has on social media (Paul has over 18 million followers on Instagram, compared to Fury’s four million).

“At the end of the day, there’s no comparison at all.”

Mayweather discusses potential earnings from Paul fight

Mayweather explained that he could earn around $100 million from the fight against Paul.

He said that if he elected to face off against a regular boxer, he would guarantee him in the region of $35 million.

For reference, he earned around $180 million for his fight with Manny Pacquiao in 2015.

“I can fight a fighter right now and I can guarantee myself $35m, eventually probably make about $50m,” he stated.

“That’s just a regular fighter.

“Me and Logan Paul or a YouTuber, we can go out and we can entertain and have fun and make nine figures. $100m or more.

“So if you were me and you were retired – because everybody thinks that retired means at home, with your feet kicked up and you picking up weight – I prefer to go out and still entertain and have fun.

“Just because I go out and entertain, have fun, doesn’t mean I still want to fight for 12 rounds.

“I think we’ve got a six-round exhibition and I think it’s going to be very entertaining. I think the people are going to love it.”

It will be interesting to see how long the fight goes on for if it does takes place.
