Former Atletico Madrid star Eduardo Salvio ‘wanted by police’ after incident with ex

The police are on the hunt for Boca Juniors forward Eduardo Salvio after the player allegedly injured his ex-wife.

The Argentinian star rose to prominence in 2010 after signing for Atletico Madrid. He scored five goals in 44 appearances before moving to Portugal to play for Benfica. The player had enjoyed a spell on loan at the Estádio do Sport Lisboa e Benfica, so it made sense for him to make a permanent move to Primeira Liga.

He spent seven years at the club and won five league titles before deciding to return to his homeland. He’s enjoyed success back in Argentina and has continued to impress spectators with his performances.

However, the 31-year-old has now hit the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Eduardo Salvio wanted by the police

The authorities are looking for the footballer after he allegedly ran over his estranged wife with his car in the early hours of April 14 in the Upmarket Buenos Aires waterfront neighbourhood of Puerto Madero.

Magali Aravena, who has created a successful career in the modelling world, has told the police that she found her husband in the vehicle with another woman.

When she attempted to confront the situation, he hastily drove off and injured her leg in the process. Footage showed her desperately trying to hold on to the vehicle as the car dragged her along the floor. However, the damage isn’t severe enough to require hospital treatment.

A few hours earlier, a woman named Sol Rinaldi posted the sportsman preparing to cook a meal on a barbecue. This left Aravena feeling jealous and resulted in her attempting to find him at his property in Puerto Madero.

The police will interview Rinaldi as a witness as they’ve identified her as the woman from the vehicle. Salvio and Aravena, who have two children together, separated a week ago.

The former Argentinian international’s lawyer, Mariano Cuneo Libarona, has claimed that the player, who is yet to come forward, is “anxious” to give his story to the police. However, Salvio is expected to tell the authorities that his wife threatened him and caused damage to his car.

As per The Daily Star, his lawyer said: “He will present witnesses, videos and several pieces of evidence that will prove his innocence. He’s not guilty of anything.”

The media outlet also claims that Salvio will likely accuse his estranged wife of threatening him and damaging his car.
