Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder’s press conference last night ended with a surreal five-minute staredown between the two rivals.
Later this summer, Fury and Wilder will meet for the third time in what will seemingly bring an end to their trilogy of bouts.
The first fight in December 2018 was scored as a draw but in the rematch just over one year later, Fury swarmed Wilder and finished him via TKO after ‘The Bronze Bomber’ was deemed unable to continue by his corner.
Fur vs Wilder; one last time?
The idea of the pair throwing down again remains enticing to some, but it’s been somewhat soured after it came courtesy of a ruling by a US court of arbitration, especially given that it’s caused a delay in the much anticipated meeting between Fury and Anthony Joshua.
Nonetheless, it looks set to go ahead, and Tuesday’s press conference certainly didn’t disappoint with Fury and Wilder engaging in one of the strangest face-offs of all time.

Between those organising the event and members of both teams, the whole situation appeared to be reaching boiling point with nobody really knowing what to do next. Neither of the heavyweight giants wanted to back down until finally, mercifully, Wilder took a step back and walked off of the stage.
Some saw this as a win for Fury but in reality, nobody knows what’s going to happen until they’re in that squared circle together, which is the beauty of heavyweight boxing.
Fury was more than happy to poke fun at Wilder during the press conference but Deontay was clearly opting for a more serious approach. He had his headphones on for long spells and appears to be focusing all of his attention – or at least most of it – on fight night.
‘The Gypsy King’ knows he can stop Wilder with strikes but if he falls in love with his hands too much, there’s every chance the American could land his signature knockout blow.
Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder 3 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on July 24.
